Can a watch appear both organic and mechanical?

The DIETRICH Organic Time OT-1 provides a particularly spectacular response with a design that appears to have been built around its movement rather than simply designed to dress it up.

Its imposing black case, with its almost hexagonal shape, immediately breaks with watchmaking conventions. The silver bezel accentuates its contours, while the black screws create a visual transition between the raw metal and the darker world of the case.

But it is by looking inside the watch that the OT-1 truly reveals its personality.

Its openwork dial is constructed like a succession of mechanical layers. At the center, an imposing X-shaped structure overlooks the exposed movement and almost evokes the protective frame of a racing machine. The volumes overlap, the openings reveal the mechanics, and each change of angle unveils a new perspective.

Amidst this somber architecture appear the organically shaped green hands designed by Emmanuel Dietrich. Their color contrasts sharply with the black of the case and the metallic tones of the dial, lending an almost surreal touch that gives the Organic Time its distinctive identity.

With its generous dimensions of 46 × 48 mm , the OT-1 fully embraces its character. It was not designed to disappear under a sleeve, but to be looked at, observed, and questioned.
