About the model
What if a sundial became a landscape?
This is the question that Kollokium Projekt 02 Variant B answers. Here, time is no longer displayed on a simple flat surface. It takes shape at the heart of a three-dimensional architecture where reliefs, shadows and light compose a veritable miniature territory.
At first glance, the eye is drawn to an unusual depth. Then, upon closer inspection, the design reveals its full complexity: nine superimposed levels, sixty-seven individual hand-painted plates assembled one by one to create a relief inspired by topographical maps. Each change of angle transforms the dial, as if the watch were unveiling a new landscape with every movement of the wrist.
To further accentuate this sense of depth, Kollokium developed what is likely the first vertical gradient applied to a topographic dial. The tops of the hour markers appear in a luminous gray before gradually plunging into deep black across the nine levels. Light glides over the contours, shadows shift, and the dial seems to continually change its expression.
But behind this radical aesthetic lies a craftsmanship of rare exacting standards. Each plate is hand-applied with a mixture of lacquer and Super-LumiNova, then the sixty-seven elements are assembled one by one over nearly six hours. The slightest deformation requires the entire dial to be remade. Kollokium even champions this approach under the name Brutalist Artisanship : a craft where creativity, experimentation, and the human touch take precedence over industrial perfection.
This philosophy extends to the case itself. Crafted from die-cast 316L steel rather than conventionally machined, it boasts a unique raw texture and a monobloc construction devoid of a visible bezel. Everything is defined by curves, tension, and volume, like a contemporary sculpture shaped around the dial.
And perhaps that is where the true singularity of Projekt 02 Variant B lies.
She is not trying to impress with a spectacular complication.
It fascinates because it transforms a simple dial into a living architectural work, where every relief, every nuance and every detail tells another way of conceiving independent watchmaking.
Limited to only 299 pieces , the Kollokium Projekt 02 Variant B is aimed at collectors who are looking for much more than a watch: a creation capable of arousing curiosity, fueling conversations and reminding us that watchmaking can also be a form of contemporary art.
